I hope that everyone had a Happy Halloween! I spent mine watching zombie movies and playing L4D2.
Interestingly enough, I was actually invited to a Halloween party by an old gal pal of mine who I haven’t seen since HS. She recognized that the party was being held at a house on the same street as mine and was considerate enough to give me a call. What she didn’t know (and I didn’t tell her) is that I’ve called the cops on that house 8x since it came under new ownership. The residents often throw very loud and obnoxious parties with lots of people, who will sometimes cross over our property line. Once I discovered that it was the same house, I declined the invitation, because showing up would have been really awkward. =X
Valve upset me with their delays on Borderlands and the L4D2 demo, but their new Harvest Event map on TF2 made up for it and then some! I can’t explain why I love this event so much. The Thriller taunts? The Ghost that scares people? The new Achievements? The free Hats? I suppose that getting any kind of seasonal event like this for TF2 is something special; so it feels like Valve really outdid themselves by adding so much stuff. If I’m not playing Borderlands or the L4D2 Demo, I’m usually playing 24/7 servers of Event Harvest. Seeing people run away from the ghost while yelling “YIKES!” never gets old — or stops being cute!
I really love the Gift RTD (Roll The Dice) Mod. If a player dies, there is a chance that they will drop a Gift, and picking it up can give you a unique status effect or item. The first time that I played Harvest Event, it was on a server running this mod, and I was confused as to how I managed to
spawn a Sentry Gun as a Scout! *L* I think that my favorite effects/items to get while playing on Harvest Event are
Running Shoes,
Nostalgia, and
Darkness, because they fit the theme of the map and look really cool with its lighting.
Lookie what I found! Woohoo~!!
I would have preferred the Engie’s Cowboy Hat though, since I’m a Cali cowgirl. =PpP

It’s too bad TF2 on Xbox is basically dead. I was pretty terrible at it though so maybe it’s a good thing for me.
How is Borderlands? I wanted to pick it up but didn’t have any way to justify the purchase. My friends wanted to get it as well but we all just ended up taking pass on it.

I was actually surprised when I found out that there were X360 versions of TF2 and L4D, because I can’t imagine anyone playing those games with a controller. So, I’m not at all surprised to hear that the TF2 community on X360 is practically dead. *L* Do you only have the X360 version? If I had known, I would have bought it for you on Steam; it was marked down to $2 for 2 hours a few days ago.
I really like Borderlands, but the PC version has a few issues:
1.) There is no Push To Talk. What makes this bad is that there is no way to adjust your mic output settings/volume in-game. Half the time when you talk, it doesn’t pick up your voice.
2.) There is no in-game setting for AA. If you have an ATI card you won’t be able to get AA working either. ATI needs to update CCC so that it can force AA in the game.
3.) The text chat is done in a fancy comic font that is indistinguishable from the other fonts. It is also displayed on the right-hand side of the screen. Nobody ever notices someone typing.
4.) There are problems with online play where you have to forward a bunch of ports on your router in order to host a game and (sometimes) connect to one. I had to find out this information (including the ports to forward) from the Borderlands section of the Steam Powered forums.
These issues have kind of discouraged me from playing. The L4D2 Demo has some issues too.

Lots of people play those types of games on consoles now. I want Borderlands for Xbox and I’m getting Call of Duty for the Xbox. Playing with a controller isn’t as nice as playing withe a mouse but it can be just as much fun. The only friends I have that are capable of playing them are, if I may be so bold, you and my friend Jon.
Ya, I’ve only got TF2 on the Xbox. But my videocard is so old I can’t even run Half Life 2 at full specs. I think I can run it at 1024 X 768 with x2 AA. I appreciate the offer, and I’ve gotta say that’s an amazing price, but I’m not sure if my computer wouldn’t have just keeled over and started smoking lol.
