I’m so addicted to the
Left 4 Dead 2 Demo! I’ve been playing it with my Japanese Steam friends/groups because I only know a few Americans who pre-ordered and have demo access (although that might
change today). I’ve noticed that I personally know more Japanese Steam users who pre-ordered L4D2, than I do English-speakers who plan on purchasing it sometime in the immediate future. I think that L4D2 is still controversial among some American fans, so they might still be “
boycotting” its release, or expecting a one year shelf-life/price decline. I have to admit, L4D still feels like only half a game to me and I resent Valve’s decision to split its community so soon. But at the end of the day, I understand that this is just the nature of business, and I love L4D too much to pass up a sequel at launch. I wonder if Valve will learn from all of this criticism and turn it into something positive for L4D2; such as regular updates, like its predecessor deserved.
If you couldn’t tell, Ellis is my favorite of the L4D2 survivors. Maybe it is his Southern accent, or the fact that he loves horses as much as he appreciates firearms (
my kind of guy)! I still prefer the original L4D survivors though, and I suppose that is to be expected. I just don’t find the new cast as interesting, or their banter as entertaining. I’m sure that the full game will develop my appreciation for their personalities even more, but playing the demo really makes me miss the interaction between the old cast. I even miss hearing Japanese players refer to Louis as “Obama” (they have trouble pronouncing his name due to the L — it is kind of cute =).
This is gross, but I have to give Valve credit where it is due: I never thought that any zombie could be as disgusting as the Boomer, but the Spitter manages to be just as revolting while looking even more hideous. I noticed while resizing screenies for my diary that it has a
pink thong, too. I’m… speechless! ww
I received this cutie in the mail a few days ago. =) I pre-ordered him from Juicy Couture as a belated birthday present for myself along with a
couple other things. There are some slight differences between him and the version shown on their website. The bridle in the stock photo is black (not pink) and the ribbon has two white banners on the side instead of blue. They only list one color option too (“etiquette”). I still think that he’s darling though and love all of his little details; particularly the
embroidered horseshoes on his hooves! Gosh he’s just sooo adorable!! *hug hug hug* I have him on my bed right now, but I’m probably going to relocate him to my bureau eventually so that he can keep my Steiff lamb company.
Today I discovered that Poupee Girl plans to
delete the Doll category from our Closets. On one hand, I’m relieved to see that category go, because PG was so ambiguous and subjective about which kind of dolls they allowed. I always thought it was extremely unfair that my
Annette Himstedt dolls were not considered “dolls” simply because they didn’t have an anime appearance like Japanese BJDs. I also worried that I would get Brown Boxed for having them in my Closet, but was too stubborn to delete them. *L* So, PG solved that dilemma for me. But I am sad that I will no longer be able to post the
doll outfits that I knit and crochet to my Closet, because I enjoyed being able to receive instant feedback about them from other girls on the site. I still consider them to be legitimate clothing/fashion items too (albeit in miniature sizes).
While I’m on the subject, I really dislike how strict PG has become and feel that these policies are diminishing my enjoyment of the site. For example, I deleted all of my Victoria’s Secret items a week ago because
one of my friends was Brown Boxed for uploading a bra. Undergarments are not listed as an illegal item in the rules, so it seems unfair to Brown Box without so much as a warning! I also think it is really stupid to have a Victoria’s Secret category for uploads if we aren’t allowed to share camisoles and other undergarment-type purchases. Before news of this conservative policy spread,
VS@Jiten was my most browsed category whenever I planned on purchasing from a catalog. Now, it is just pages of Beauty Rush Lipgloss. Bleh.

So what’s his name?
It’s great Valve have made the L4D2 demo free of charge; unfortunately I can’t really play is ‘cos my PC’s so damn unstable as of late. =(

I dub him: Sir Socks!
When will you be able to play Steam games? =( I think you should really be entitled to a refund on the PC at this point.

“Horses are for riding, not for eating.”
I haven’t played the demo yet but hopefully I’ll be able to tomorrow. The Spitter looks absolutely revolting though and it even kind of turns me off of the game. lol I’m not boycotting the game myself but I haven’t pre-ordered it yet simply because I bought Borderlands recently and would have felt too guilty buying two $50 games so close together. I’m just hoping the game is worth the $50.

What is the Spitter? It looks like some fat, nasty, ugly, wrinkly old lady monster with a disproportionately large belly compared to its relatively small boobs. To be fair, though, I think “disgusting” was the idea the developers had in mind. L4D2 is a zombie game, after all.
By the way, I’m sorry I haven’t been on Steam much for a while. I moved my video card to my newer computer, upgraded the power supply (from 250W to 450W) and the operating system (Windows Vista to Windows 7) and I haven’t had much time for gaming lately, either.
I was going to upgrade the OS later, as a Christmas thing, but Windows 7 normally costs like $130. I got an educational promotion deal where I got it for only $30 because I’m enrolled in college.
Also, I have a best friend IRL now, and I’ve been hanging out with her a lot on the weekends. I feel really happy with her, and I’ve been doing well lately. I hope things are also going well with you, Rachel. ^_^

I feel really guilty too. =( I pre-ordered Borderlands and I’ve only spent maybe 5 hours on the game. My highest level character is Hunter, Mordecai, and he is only around level 18. *sigh*
Not being able to get AA working with my ATI card annoys me, since I feel like I’m not enjoying the game as it was meant to be seen. Having no Push To Talk is what REALLY turns me off from playing though, because I practically have to yell at my mic to be heard. I haven’t had the game a week and I’m already regretting the purchase and wishing I had bought the X360 version. *sigh* It is sad because I really do enjoy the game; just not all of the the graphic/sound issues.
C Dos Run
The Spitter is a new Special Infected that is similar to the Boomer. It “spits” stomach acid which does Damage Over Time to anyone in the Area of Effect. I know that “disgusting” was the idea, but I still never expected anything to top the Boomer on my grossness barometer! *L*
I was wondering where you had been lately. I’m glad to hear that you’re doing okay and enjoying yourself, even if you are too busy for games these days (games should always be a secondary hobby anyways). Do you like Windows 7? I’m thinking of upgrading. I’m still on XP because I hated what I saw/experienced of Vista at work, so I never upgraded. I’m envious that you only had to spend $30 on 7! Maybe I should wait to upgrade until I’m back in school.
Oh, and what is this about a “best” friend? Could that be Des lingo for… girlfriend, perhaps?! =D
When you’re back on Steam you have to tell me mooore!

That horse statue in The Parish looks almost like the Kusunoki Masashige samurai statue outside the Imperial Palace in Tokyo (without the samurai on top, of course). The concrete and copper base looks almost identical.
